August 25th at Stiwdio 3, Cardigan
10.30am – 12.30pm
By using up recycled scraps of fabric and a little machine or hand stitch, you can learn to make your own unique ribbon yarns, for use in craft projects or edgings and trimmings for clothes.
You will be taught by artist Imogen Mills to salvage scraps of fabrics, ripping into strips, developing colour stories and then finally stitching everything together using contrasting or matching stitchs. No experience is necessary as all skills can be taught in this taster session. Bring your own favourite fabrics, maybe they have personal meaning to you. Lighter weight fabrics work best, can be plain or pattered depending on what you are using the ribbon yarns for. Add embellishment detail with lace, velvet if so required. Sewing machines are provided, bring favourite threads or we can provide.
Imogen Mills is a contemporary hand weaver, painter and community artist.
