Coat making classes

So often neglected but so often the success of an outfit can rely on what you put over the top - a good coat can make or break your outfit! If you are already pretty comfortable behind a sewing machine then making a coat is an excellent way to learn more and expand your skills.

 Wax Jacket

If you know how to use a sewing machine and would like to start making your own clothes this is a perfect workshop for you! The fabulous Landgate pullover by Merchant and Mills is a brilliant first garment to make in a workshop environment. You leap straight in with learning new skills such as how to cut and handle wax cotton, how to stitch a French seam and how to put in a zip and zip guard. These are quite advance techniques which could be daunting to be working out at home on your own. Learning alongside others is always enjoyable, especially when you can lark about doing fashion shows featuring part made garments!

Here’s what some of our recent students says about this two day workshop

“I found the course tutor Angela very patient professional and informative. She is a fountain of knowledge with all her experience and is willing to share. I learnt so much from Angela on the course and gained more confidence in pattern cutting and gained a super power I didn't know I had on the sewing machine - turning a piece of material into a useful garment I can wear and keep me dry whilst walking my dog. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and meeting like minded people on the course too. I can't thank Angela and the staff at studio 3 enough for a lovely couple of days. I would highly recommend the course and studio 3 for the lovely welcome and food and beverages. I am looking forward to my next course. Thanks a million.” Maggie

I enjoyed the opportunity to learn some technical sewing skills and create a garment that I will wear. The tutor was lovely and a very good teacher. It was great to share and be with the other participants.” Carolyn
