Learn to slab build and decorate a mug with a ‘pulled’ handle. Handle pulling is a great process to learn and produces endless decorative possibilities.
Clay comes from the Earth, the same Earth that feeds us. The process of pot making particularly brings Earth and
humans together through an exploitation of the limitations of both. The form that the Potter creates is limited by what is possible when handling clay. His/her body must work with and not against the material so that later when another person drinks from this cup they are connected to both the life-giving Earth (clay) but also the human body, the hand, human physical limitation.

Please bring along ideas and any found objects that you would like to use for pattern making on the clay. Eg. shells, cloth with appliqué, lace, buttons, pen ends etc…

Your ticket uncludes 6.5kg of clay, tools to use whilst you’re here, glaze/under glaze, bisk and glaze firing of 2 items per person. If more clay is desired or you would like to have extra items fired then the
option of supplements would be available at a slight additional cost.

Spaces are limited to 8 people to ensure everyone booked on receives a fair amount of tuition.
Teas are provided. Delicious cakes and lunches are available to purchase from the cafe should you wish.
