Did any of you take time over the Christmas and new years Bank holiday, to reflect on 2018?
Maybe not. Maybe you nursed a sore head on New Years day, or just took time to chill. I love that time between Christmas and new year when you don’t know what day it is or what you are supposed to be doing with yourself!
When I take time to slow down, I like to reflect. You can (try to) reflect on a whole 365 days of stuff you’ve done. You won’t remember the most of it I imagine. Instagram is always good to look back on. If you take lots of pictures (like I do) looking at them can bring back lovely memories of what you’ve been up to in the year. You’ll remember the stuff that was hard, the fun stuff, the stuff that went wrong and the stuff that went brilliantly. You’ll also remember the sad stuff of course, if there was any sadness in your year.
Work. Play. Eat. Sleep. Meet friends. Hang out with family. Walk. Travel. Read. Write…. this list goes on and on.
I love reflecting.
Why do I love it so much? Because you can learn from it, you become a better person from reflection. Well thats what I think. It gives you the opportunity to sort your mistakes from your achievements. Gives you chance to celebrate (and cringe maybe) at what you’ve done, but who cares? You did what you did and now you can look back and say to yourself, ok that was good or that was bad, learn from that and make yourself a better person this year. Do better things, or the same things…. but reflect and learn.
So, I won’t bore you with my personal good bits and my personal bad bits… those thoughts are for me only. But what I will share with you is this. The end of last year, a dream came to reality.
Really, really, if you have a dream, pursue it. Work hard. Play hard. Form good teams. Make good friends. Work with good people. Aim high even if it scares the living daylights out of you. Be good to your fellow people. Oh and eat well and exercise. It’s all stuff we know, and implementing it is harder but when you do, who knows where it will take you?
Here is a transformation in pictures. It was a mighty team effort. We worked hard for years to lay down the foundations and then months towards the build up toward opening. We worked long hours. We worked very hard. The hard work paid off.
