Sunday May 17th
Learn collagraph printmaking with Jackie Shackson and create some unique works of art.
Jackie’s set of 3 classes is an introduction to several non-chemical printmaking techniques. They can be taken as a short course or as separate classes (drypoint and lino cutting). Once these skills have been learnt they open up endless possibilities to create beautiful prints individually or by combining two or more of the different print processes on one piece. You don’t need to have excellent drawing skills for any of these methods as all can be combined with image transfers or tracings.
Collagraph printing is an intaglio technique originally using cardboard, glue, collaged elements, and varnish to create the plate, and therefore several days to complete. In this class you will learn a simplified version of the method using drypoint paper or tetrapak, tapes and foils to create your collaged plates that can be printed on the same day.
Teas provided. Other drinks and delicious lunches and cakes are available to purchase from the cafe should you wish. Please bring an apron and basic pencil case tools. All other materials will be provided. Maximum 6 people per class.
