June 15th & 16th at Bryn Berwyn Country House, Tresaith. Needle felt a puffin. Over the two days Ruth will guide you through the magic of needle felting. Working with images of puffins and Ruth’s own photos as reference you will sculpt your own bird using Welsh wool fibre. Needle felting is a sitting down activity which involves stabbing wool fibre with a barbed needle, tangling the fibres together and enabling the creation of three dimensional shapes. Ruth will help you with the different stages of the process, encouraging the development of the character of the puffin through stance, wing position and finally the eyes…all made using one tool. Your cute little puffin will stand at about twenty cm high.
All materials required to felt your puffin are included in the course fee. A spacious work area is allocated to each student along with their own tools to use while they’re here. We’ll be breaking each day for a delicious, wholesome lunch from Jen Goss of Our Two Acres. A plentiful supply of tea, coffee and afternoon cake is also provided and we’ll take a break for a beach walk each day.
At the end of each day, we can head to the local pub which looks over beautiful Tresaith beach. There’s a hot tub at the lovely Bryn Berwyn and lots of space to relax and unwind in if you’re staying with us. Perhaps you could visit the puffins of Skomer Island whilst you’re here?
